Low end video card

I've not kept up on the low-end cards in the $40-$60 range at all and so I need to find one to install on a ASUS P4P800-VM that I built for young lady last fall. Something along the lines of the 9200's but what are the better one's in this range? She doesn't play games it's just for browsing, chat, burning music and homework.

I bet she doesn't forgot to un-screw the video cable before yanking on it and damaging the video port. It prolly didn't help that she had over 200 pieced of spy ware, 3 Trojans and 5 viruses.....no wonder she couldn't get the Internet to work. :eek:

I'd prefer ATI based cards.

It seems like an ATI Radeon 9200 would do fine in that case. If you would like, you might consider the <a href="http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-125-153&depa=0">Gigabyte Radeon 9250</a> in its place, but I don't see any point to if 3D graphics aren't going to play an important role in the use of the computer.

I don't think she will be doing any heavy graphics, prolly just veiwing and printing pictures. I'll take a look at the Gigabyte though I've not had a good history with thier mobo's.

The Gigabyte 9250 is what I just installed. After the proper drivers it seems to do the trick. Ran 3D Mark to a decent rate for a $44 card shipped.

Cool, I just got off the phone with my bud who runs a little PC shop here locally and he said he'd sell me the Sapphire 9250 for the same price as the Gigabyte 9250. I taught the boy good! He doesn't match newegg prices for just anyone.

Very nice...be sure to remember that the Gigabyte card I linked to is the 128-bit version as opposed to the 64-bit version, though without games, the difference is likely innegligible.

No, this was for the 64 bit version and it should be fine for her usage, but I'll see if my bud has the 128 version when I stop by his shop tomorrow afternoon.
