Do some Video Card require certain monitors over other moniters?

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-123-146&depa=1
Take this one for example, its got listed on it that it has 2048X1536@85Hz so does that mean the Monitor must at least have that setting to work?

Or if I'm wrong then are there any other moniter combatibility things I should know about concering gameing with video cards?

it has 2048X1536@85Hz

No. It has *max* 2048x1536@85Hz. It can do lower resolutions as well, so you don't need special monitors.

Only thing to look at would be the DVI port, if you have a TFT with DVI. Otherwise, every monitor goes to the VGA port.

The numbers you refer to are the Maximum settings the card will support. It will support anything lower without a problem. Those numbers should be fine with anything up to and including a 21" crt or 20" lcd monitor.
