Hmm -- soo USB Keyboards...

I have to make my mobo recognize the USB keyboard before it boots to windows -- how am I supposed to do that if I can't boot into bios seeing as my keyboard is non responsive.

Besides hooking up a ps/2 keyboard... anything else?

Well, if the keyboard physically gets you into BIOS, then it works. Be sure if the keyboard somehow needs some extra power that it has it. Also, be sure you are plugging into a USB slot that is integrated into the motherboard. I've used PS/2 to configure in BIOS then after I noticed something was wrong with the slot, I went USB.

Also, I'm presuming it's the system in your signature you're building - be extremely cautious when working with an Allied PSU.

Nay -- it's not the system in the sig... this is my old system. And no, taht's the dillemma, if I can indeed enable USB read before boot -- how am I to do it if I can't use the keyboard to get into bios.

Have you had a bad experience with Allied?

As a way of isolating the problem, try a different keyboard - of course, still use the USB slot that is integrated into the MOBO.

With the Allied PSU, I personally have not had the experience (was warned away), but I do have friends who have. I do believe they are associated with DEER, and DEER is notorious for their instable PSUs.

Ya, I've heard the "friends of friends" thing a few times. I'm gonna give it a try and if I'm feeling warry -- swap it out.I mean, I used a CompUSA PSU for years. Lol.

Ya, don't think I have another USB keybaord in the house atm... oh well. I don't care enough about this machine anyway, seeing as I'll have my new one finished tomorrow.
