Greetings from Norge:

Specs are in my sig.

I think it can be gathered from the Asus P5GD2 Deluxe documentation that it has native SATA support through the Intel ICH6R chip.

So, I take it this means that there should be no requirement to interrupt the OS installation (XP) to pull SATA controller drivers from a floppy. Is my take on this correct? I *believe* I know what to expect during the install vis a vis XP and SATA on this board. I just want my hand held.

FYI: The board does have a second set of four SATA ports. These are Silicon Image RAID. Asus doc clearly states that drivers can later be installed from the Asus support CD under Windows. Good if you want a monster RAID. Not this Christmas. But there is nothing about drivers for the ICH6R.

Can give more details about what the doc says if needed. But I trust someone knows the board.

Thanks in advance.

B

PS I have a separate question concerning partition and format, but for clarity I’ll do that in a separate post.

That board has native SATA support, just use the ICH6R controller.

BTW. Read your guide, Spyder. Anyone stymied by SATA should start there. Nice job. It helped a lot
