Compressing File

I have a file i need to record to CD, The file is too large for the cd, is there any way i can compress the file and copy to cd without losing data.

CD's hold about 700 MB you can compress a larger file by using winzip to copy it as a .zip file, but if it to big to compress as a 700 Meg zip file you need a file splitting software, you can get them here, but be sure your always working with a copy of the original.

Then you will most likely need to split it with winzip and put it on 2 disks. What kind of file is it? Some types of files compress more than others.

The file is a MPG (movie clip) I created it using DAZZLE

An MPEG file is already compressed using the MPEG codec. There's litle WinZip or WinRAR will do to make it smaller. You can try to re-encode the file at a lower bitrate, to just split the file using WinZip or WinRAR and burn it to two CD-Rs. You'll also need WinZip or WinRAR on the destination computer to re-join the file.
