ok i'm back...in a previous post i asked about my new pc finding my hdd in bios but not in boot-up, i purchased new os not that i have the chance to use it because my mb won't find/recognize my hdd's. I have purchased 3 new hdd's to make sure that's not the prob. the only thing i'm wondering is my mb is ide/ata. I have my hdd and cdrw on the ide, should i put the hdd on the ata to make it read? i think i have just made a really expensive doorstop/paperweight :( all of you have been so helpfull i have learned so much since joining. This is my first solo build I know i'm missing something but I don't have a clue. Thanks in advance

What brand and model motherboard is it?

Are you setting up the hard drives correctly? IDE cable connected the right way (red stripe to pin 1) and if it's a 80 wire IDE cable blue to motherboard, black to hard drive and grey to slave device. Jumper set to CS (cable select).

Have you tried just putting the hard drive in without the CD-RW attached?

Since it's a SOYO motherboard, chances are high that it's defective. They're made by ECS or PC Chips now.
