Closing My CD-Drive

I'm just curious, but is it REALLY alright to close your CD-Rom Drive by pushing it in manually instead of pressing its button?

Ive been doing it for years with no problems whatsoever , someone probably said that cause they was worried aboot his new shinny Cdrom. :D

It's fine till you push too hard and strip/jam the gears.

Call me anal, but I always use the button. No point in taking any chances.

Some of the newer HP's don't even give you the option of using the button. When the tray opens, if forces the tray cover down and that's what houses the eject button. You have to push the tray to return it. That makes me assume (bad word!) that tray pressure is an acceptable method. I still use the buttons on my own stuff tho'.
