Sound problems

i've posted a topic regarding this before but never realy got an answer, so here it goes again.

At the moment, to play sound on my computer, i'm using the onboard sound card on my motherboard (K7S5A), it plays ok, but starts to hiss and jump when-ever i do something else on my computer.

At first i thought that this as just becuase of my speakers becuase they were rather cheap labtec ones that came with my computer, so at the moment i've lent some excelent ones of my mate but the problem persits.


Is this definatley a soundcard problem as i would hate to go out and but a new sound card and find out that it wasn't the problem.

or is it just woth me buying a new motherboard with decent onboard sound.

Hi mate

First off it might be worth ensuring you have all the right drivers. AC-97 codecs and drivers are provided by Realtek - their drivers can be found here:

I have an Abit IC7-G with the same onboard sound - I had the same problems and updating the drivers sorted the it out.

If the problem persists, rather than buying an expensive new motherboard, why not just buy a soundcard? There are loads out there from about £35 that will be much better than onboard efforts anyway.

i'm copletly revamping my computer so a new motherbard will have to be bought anyway, just thought i should try getting one with decent on board sound.

i'm downloading that file now so hopefully it will work
