Jerky wireless key/mouse

I've been using a Logitech Mx700 Duo mouse and keyboard. The keyboard works perfectly but the mouse is giving me a bit of trouble. When I'm using it (moving the mouse), sometimes it jerks and twitches of the mark. Not only is it bad when I'm playing games but it gets very annoying. Is it because of a weak signal? I'm only using it about 2' from the reciever. Is it because of an interference from another wireless device? I'm not using any other wireless thing; not even my phone. Does someone know how to fix this?

Try moving the receiver around.

are you using a mousepad of some sort ? It might be worth it to just try it on your desk.

A few thrings to try:
Change channels
Jockey receiver around and move it away from other peripherals
Check for obstruction between LED and mousing surface (I had a hair across mine once and caused it to flake out)

If you want to use a mousepad with an optical mouse, I've had the best luck with a plain black fabric covered spongy pad. Anything with a design on it or anything shiny/reflective can cause skipping and sticking.

you have to be careful with black because my optical mouse will sometimes quit on you if it goes over black

Thats strange - my mousepad is pure black - but it's not reflective, it's a standard fabric covered foam pad.

Plain white would work even better, non reflective, as it will also optomize battery life. The mouse will "go to sleep" quicker when sitting on a plain white surface (sheet of printer paper, for example. . .) But with the MX who cares, ehh? I just throw mine in the cradle every other day.

I know the problem is apparently solved, but I thought I'd chime in experience of when I have problems.

The wireless base its in between a printer and monitor with less than a foot of space in between the monitor and printer.. with a metal-rimmed coaster usually filled with water or some other liquid. Sometimes, this causes it to skip around and keeps it from registering clicks, as well. Sometimes, the mouse just starts skipping around at random. If moving the base doesn't work, I will press the "Connect" button on both the base and the mouse itself to resync them. The above process works 100% of the time.. if one part doesn't, the next has. This is at a range of about 2' as well

I recently upgraded to the MX1000 laser mouse and had similar problems. I was using a 'mouserug' that had red in the pattern and my mouse was very jerky and erratic. I ditched the pad and the problem went away as well.
