PS2 Keyboard not working.

Windows XP Pro failes to load my standard Logitech keyboard. If I uninstall the driver, keyboard will work after the restart but after any additional restarts keyboad does not start up.

It works in BIOS and it worked half way into the windows install.
What could be the problem??

Yes, the keyboard is just fine its just windows doesnt start it . I mean it works in bios, then it doesn not work in xp but when I uninstall the driver for the keyboard upon restart the keyboard works until I restart again.If I hook it up with a USB adapter it works just fine but not through the PS2 port. What could this be?
It sounds to me to be software issues more then hardware!

Just had a similar problem on new build/Windows XP install. Keyboard and mouse would work only after a reboot. I had the mouse and keyboard in the wrong PS2 slots. Switched and everything works fine.

Is it the Function keys that don't work? Like when you have to press F8 to accept the MS license agreement during the XP install? If so, that's a common problem with a fresh XP install. You'll need to use a standard keyboard first to execute the install then install the software/drivers for the Logitech keyboard and switch them. (swich them after powering off)

You guys are misunderstanding me. It is a standard keyboard and it does work through the XP install. In fact it works until I have to type in who will be using the computer, and I can't. It is connected to the PS2 port and it's not a usb keyboard I just have an adapter that I used to see will it work in windows.
In fact I did a different build yesterday and had a same problem. I must be doing something wrong, but I don't know what!?!?!?!? :confused:

Reread your original post and your latest. Does your Logitech keyboard come with the software/drivers? If so, load them instead of letting XP assign the built in driver. What model keyboard is it?

Keyboard is not the issue here, since I have tried other keyboards and the same thing happens (sony, mitsuko, etc.). It's just a basic keyboard it doesn not come with any drivers.

Seems like there's some possible settings in the bios that pertain to the keyboard. Legacy stuff and "wake on". Not sure what mobo you are using but you might want to check out your bios as a possiblity.

Its the new nforce4 sli board from gigabyte. I think bios is ok unless im overlooking something.

Okay, go to the bios and select "Load Optimzed Defaults" and save. after the reboot your keyboard should work.

dang... they make a mobo w/o testing the keyboard !
