My mic for my computer is really messed up. People used ot be able to hear me, just with tremendous background interference, but they can't hear me at all now. In the background, it starts out silent, and then turns into a pulsating resonant sound that eventually starts to echo on itself. The strange thing is, this happens even when my speakers are turned off. I did notice however, that when I turn the volume on my subwoofer up and down (seperate from my speakers), the resonance gets louder and softer respectivly. I'm not sure exactly what caused this problem, since I installed a sound card and got my new speakers at the same time. I don't think it is the speakers themselves, because I sound fine on xbl when sitting in the same chair using the same speakers. I'm thinking it's either the mic, or some kind of interference with the sound card. Right now, my sound card is 1 slot up from the bottom pci slot (my tv tuner is in that one), and has the Front Speaker, Rear Speaker, Center/Sub, Line In, and Microphone jacks filled. The drivers are installed correctly, and my onboard sound is disabled (though for some reason I think they could hear me better when it wasn't). Any idea what could be causing this and how to get my mic working correctly? I play many games online, and am in a clan for several games. I've missed 9 of the past 10 practices because of this, so a working mic is a necessity.
