Have 2 WD Raptors running Raid 0 for 8 months now, everything was working well.

All of a sudden one day my computer freezes up at my desktop after boot up. Computer does not "restart" or "reset". I had to manually power down the comp and reboot.

Upon reboot I get a failure and message saying "Raid volume boot up failure" and to "press Ctrl-I to enter Raid configuration Utility" Upon entering utility I see the Hd's listed as working "Normal" but the Raid volume listed as "failed".

At this point I am asked a question "Do these Hd's belong to this Raid volume?"

I answer "Y", and taken to another menu where I can create another raid volume, delete a raid volume and "reset Hd's to normal non-raid discs"

I exit and computer boots up normal and has no problems again until the 2rd or 3rd boot up. Then the error message starts again, I enter raid config utility and perform the same steps and everything works fine.

I tried doing searches on here and the net and was not able to find anything.

Thanks :)

Check all the cables, SATA and from the PSU for each of the drives. Possible one of the SATA cables is even going bad. I've had that error message once in the last year (not counting the time I forgot to give one of my HDD's power!) and I have no idea what caused it.

You may want to download and run WD's Data Lifeguard Diagnostics - one of the drives may be going bad.
