I had problems with USB connectivity and just had motherboard replaced. I had upgraded to A07, and the replacement has the old A05 installed. I'm now queasy about upgrading to A07 as everything seems to be working fine. What does anybody think about keeping up-to-date with the latest BIOS, and what is the down side, if any?

IMO, updating the BIOS is best if you have hardware that is a little out of the current BIOS revision's league. What I would do is try the USB connectivity on this new board, and if it works fine, theres really no need to upgrade the BIOS. If it all works fine, theres not much point in risking an accidental BIOS flash, or another warranty call to dell! :D

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

It's recommended that you don't flash your BIOS unless you absolutely need to. If the flash goes bad, you end up with a useless computer until you get the CMOS chip replaced.

Dell bios upgrades are very easy and almost foolproof. I'd do the upgrade.
