I am looking for a program that can be used as a datebook that would have a message pop up on your computer. Does a program like this exist?

Outlook has done this all along. Even the old M$ Schedule Plus did that.

Date Reminder (http://www.softpicks.net/software/Date-Reminder-14282.htm) is free and says it'll do what you're looking for.

If it's not what you're looking for, a Google search for "calendar reminder" or "date reminder" or "scheduler" should give you lots of other options.
