ok so i bought far cry last night and i am not to pleased,first time i played the color of the landscape in certain spots was black.no biggie i just d/l'ed the newest patch and problem solved.now when i play the graphic's look good but the movement is kinda choppy and freeze's sometimes.i have a new 6800 and when i used auto detect for graphics settings it applied them at low setting's,dont know why i think my rig is quite sufficiant to play on higer setting's.i also have the new driver's.was wondering if someone could lend me a hand with this.i am playing it on high setting,just dont know why the movement it so choppy

First things first, have you scanned for spyware?

Second, do you have a lot of items running in the background and/or in your system tray?

Also, does anything else have a problem playing? Have you defraged recently?

Is your sig accurate- you are using a 2500+ Mobile? If that is the case then, the limiting factor is the CPU- even with the 6800. Far Cry is well known for being a resource hog- especially if you have AA and AF cranked up and in those open island levels when there are more than a few enemies to combat. (Didn't know you could use a mobile in a reg computer).

hmm another issue with a 6800 card , I tell you this card seems to be cursed .

yeah so i did a defragg before installing and spy/adware scan.and have shut down just about all programs running in the back.well if the CPU is the culprit
i may have solved this,as i am ordering a new CPU this week i may go with an AMD64 3200 and a new mobo.oh and yeah the mobile chip work's fine on a regular mobo and an excellent o/cer :)

Did you update to 1.31? I had the exact same problem before I did.

ok now i am pissed,i downloaded 1.31 and the game wont play.the initial screen comes up then it quits to the desktop :mad: :mad: :mad: i did a repair and it asked for 2 disc's i get a bit further but the game freeze's :mad:
guess i will uninstall and try again

i question the mobile cpu too, diidnt know you could use one in a reg. computer. thought they were laptop only. also in your sig you show 2 different kinds of memory have you tried to take out the 256 and see how it runs?

The mobiles will run, but the problem is they have only a 266 FSB; there may be timing conflicts with the Corsair 3200.

i have the same brand all identicle memory stick's in my main rig which is were
the game is installed,i have the FSB at 400 and all my other game's play well.
i am gonna install it later again :)
