I understand the relationship between memory and bus speed but is the cpu multiplier in anyway related to the speed of the memory. I guess what I'm asking is would PC100 memory in anyway prohibit me from increasing the multiplier?
Also, I was wondering about everyone who posts questions about cpu temperature...Does anybody keep the cover on the computer? I would assume keeping the case wide open would certainly keep things cool.
Thanx

Hi zione1,
No, the multiplier does not affect the RAM. The multiplier is used only for the processor to determine it's speed in relationship to the FSB.
Keeping the cover off the case may keep it cooler, but I would not recommend it. First, much more dust will collect on the inside of the case on the motherboard and cards. Second, if you have any other fans, like in the bottom front or top back, taking the case off will disrupt the air flow and most likely keep it less cool that with the cover on.
Hope that helps.

so long as you keep your cables tied up neatly, I have to agree, it's better with the cover on. You cannot have a good flow over components without the cover on. Properly put together, you should get a good flow of air though the case and develop a slight negative air pressure inside the case.

Agree with Dr. Zauis and Hal, major OEM's like Dell,HP,Gateway, etc. actually design their cases for proper airflow, so taking the cover off in that case could actually be a bad thing.
