good stable motherboard/case for athlon 1.1-1.3ghz

well guys, it is about that time to build again.

i need a good stable mb with pci slots, agp, and NO onboard anything (sound, video).N I need ur expert suggestions for a good stable motherboard that doesn't require alot of flashes to be stable, or some type of special equipment.. . i also need a good case with lots of cooling..i will be running an athlon processor 1.1-1.3 ghz.

Asus has been recommended to me by several different people for use in conjunction w/ Athlon procs. This one supports both sdram and ddr sdram, which is nice.
As far as the case goes,there are a ton to choose from...I recommend getting a full tower to maximize airspace (and for the spare room for expansion) and at least 300w for the power supply. I guess it depends, do you have a preference for ddr ram?

If not, check out the Epox 8KTA3+ and Iwill KK266-R, both use sdram, but are very good boards.

Well I was looking at that asus board but why bother? If you are going to get DDR why slow it down with Pc133? Kinda defeats the purpose. I just ordered an Iwill Ka 226-R should be a good board supporst DDR

Abit KT7A. Have one and love it. Only one jumper on the board, and I've overclocked a crappo green 750 TBird to 141mhz bus speed with rock solid stability.

everyone here is telling me DDR ram is going to be the next thing..why not go ahead and get a mobo that can support that and regular sdram? Is that a bad idea?

No its a fine Idea if your going to transfer your Pc 133 over for now and in the future perhaps ditch that infavor of DDR but I decided to jump headfirst into DDR myself so I could run the ram at the same speed as my FSB.

For sheer stability it's almost impossible to beat Epox or Soyo motherboards. I really like that case that Wheels is showing off and for only $77 what a deal.

When you're talking about epox and soyo, do you mean any model? or just a specific model? I'm looking at a soyo MB.

I have yet to use that board but I wouldn't hesitate trying it. I've never had a bad Soyo board as the only problems I had with them was of my own doing and their support was super in helping me out. You might even consider the VTA Pro that runs DDR SDRAM if this is a new build and you will be buying memory anyway. I saw a good review of it and it has the same specs except it requires DDR instead of SDR memory. I don't know if you plan to overclock but I have had my best luck in overclocking with Soyo and MSI boards. Problem with MSI is no support if you have problems except whats on their website.

I have two Soyo Socket 7 boards, and never had a problem with either.

They aren't the top of the line, but they're stable, well made, and Soyo support is excellent. They aren't overclockable on the KT133 and KT133A boards, though, so if that's your thing stick with Abit, Asus, Epox, and Iwill.

What about the FIC AD11? I don't think support is that good but I have heard it is a stable board and good for OC.
