Can You Install a Mac OS On Any PC?

Hey, I'm sure this is probably a stupid question but... Can you install a Mac OS on any PC? I think the Mac OS is really cool and think it would be awesome to have a dual boot system with it. If it won't work do you know why? Can you build your own Mac system? THANKS!

Interesting question. Don't know for sure myself. I think it is only compatible with their cpus though. So it probly won't work with just any computer. Again i'm not sure about this i'm usually wrong about these kind of things. I think i'll keep a watch to see how it turns out.

Yes, you can Cherry OS was just relesed about a week ago here is the Link (http://www.mxsinc.com/pages.php?cid=MDEwMDA4) . As for building your own Mac i dont think you can beacuse Mac makes there own parts for there computers like motherboards etc. I dont think you can buy those anywhere. :D

That is what a friend here was saying... CPU compatibilty... Although I'm thinking what is now open source should now be possible.

Some parts of Macs are incompatible with PCs, so I would say no as of now.

People have long wanted to run the Mac OS operating system on PC hardware, specifically on Intel and AMD architectures. But despite pleas and prayers, that wish remains unfulfilled.

Although running Mac OS natively on PC hardware is not possible, there is another option--running Mac OS X on an emulator, like PearPC.

Its not really not possible unless you use an emulator. There is an explanation that I have read that in IBM based pcs the computing is done from binary to complex numbers. While in MACs its the opposite its from complex to binary.

Don't waste your money on cherry OS, you won't be impressed. They have a benchmark on their site that gives an emulated CPU score of 1.36, compared to my 1-ghz g4 powerbook of 92.7 and my G5 score of 226.3. Cherry OS is just way too slow. If you really want to run OS X, buy a mac mini, emulation just doesn't cut it I'm afraid.
