I see nothing wrong with it, ASUS makes good motherboards so I guess it would be alright if you tried their DVD burner. I personally have never tried an ASUS, only Lite-On's, drive before, so I don't know what to tell you about performance or anything. Does it produce coasters? What about disc support?

It burns dual layer at 6x which I think is just about the fastest out there, besides an 8X floating around, you know for the handful of times you burn DL DVD's.

Can't beat the bang for the buck with the Lite-On SOHW-1633S (http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproductdesc.asp?description=27-106-960&DEPA=1). A little slower on the dual-layer burns, but as solid as any burner you'll find.

Try NEC also. They are very good and highly recommended. Here is the most popular one next to Plextor and cheaper then ASUS.

I ordered it so i can't change but uh, was it a good decision? I read the reviews and it seemed pretty good. btw was it the one you mentioned earlier or is it differant?
