This started a few days ago I came to this site and a few others and i get the message invalid password 5 times then it locks my account for 15 minutes, is this a problem with firefox or anyone else had this problem.

I used IE to come here and post since thats the only way i can login here now as much as I hate to use IE ... ughh.

I dont recall changing any settings to firefox lately and ive cleared out all history etc.

2nd computer does the same thing too btw.

:confused:

Do you have Firefox set to enable cookies?

RJS2
03-21-2005, 03:57 PM
Yes I have em enabled for:

Allow sites to set cookies-checked

For the originating web site only-checked

Keep Cokies: until they expire

RJS2

Its fixed ..

I uninstalled it then I deleted the modzilla directory then ran regcleaner and reinstalled now things are fine.

I tried this several times before and dont know why it took this many times but oh well :)

For the originating web site only-checked

dee_sel

Originating web site only should be unchecked.

I've tried both ways and it doesn't seem to matter on this forum.

Try this, close Firefox and navigate to - Documents & Settings > *User Name* > Application Data > Mozilla > Firefox > Profiles > *Profile Name* - Look for the file 'key3.db' and delete it. That is where your master password is located and deleting it will enable you to set another one, after you restart Firefox.

Ok so I spoke too soon...

Something has haunted my pc I think its wierd.

First thing I did was go to safe mode and checked for spyware with adaware, spybot, and microsoft antispyware then used hijack this and looked clean then i used cws cleaner and found CWS.MSConfig whatever that is but it removed it so it said then i rebooted back to normal mode which i posted it let me login but as soon as I loged out and tried closing and reopening firefox it started to do the same stuff..

So ive heard good things about opera so I went and got that and it does the exact same thing firefox does then I went in safe mode again and what do you know it picked up the CWS.MSConfig variant again so I deleted it went to normal mode and im using opera on my name so it let me after removing that, im assuming this is whats causeing the problem..

But where am I getting this I dont know where its coming from and why isnt it staying away after deleting because since ive deleted it this has been the only ite ive been too... Or is this really the problem...I really wish this would stop ive never had this much problem logging into my accounts.

I delete this thing and it comes right back..

:confused:

Can anyone help?

Maybe it should be moved to security if it becomes spyware or virus related..

That msconfig in your log is legit that is just a reminder if you change your settings. how do you boot into safe mode through msconfig or do you do the f8 Method

I've seen that version of CWS come up false positive quite abit just to be sure could you do me a favor and give a startup log and a startdrek log

Open hijack this
click [b]COnfig
Misc tools
put two little checks in the boxes where it says generate startup log
Then click generate startup log

===========
Download StartDreck http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/StartDreck.zip

Unzip to its own folder and start the program:
Press 'Config'
Press 'mark all'

Uncheck the following boxes only:
System/Running Process -> List Modules
System/Drivers -> NT Services
System/Drivers -> NT Kernel- and FS-drivers
Press 'OK'

Press 'Save' and select the location to save the log file (default is the same folder as the application)

Post the log in this thread.

You might want to upgrade firefox and see if that improves your problem

firefox 1.0.2 just came out

Thanks for your help Lobos your great at this stuff. ;)

That msconfig in your log is legit that is just a reminder if you change your settings. how do you boot into safe mode through msconfig or do you do the f8 Method

Thru msconfig > boot.ini > safe with network

You might want to upgrade firefox and see if that improves your problem

Thanks I will, although why would it cause Opera to do the same thing I just installed it last night and it does the exact same thing. If I use IE I dont have any porblems logging in etc.

Heres what you requested hope this helps.
