AMD athlon xp barton 2500+
asus n7n8x motherboard
1 gig ddr 3200 ram
ATI all in wonder 9600 video card
western digital 7200rpm 120gig hard drive
memorex 52*32*32 cd-r/cd-rw
nec 16x dvd-rw

Fresh build, no spare parts to try out, trying to run Windows 2000, I know I need the driver for my hard drive, trying to load from a cd, when trying to boot windows 2000 from the cd- it loads until it asks me to load any drivers that I need into the "A" drive. I never had a floppy, because I thought I could boot from my cd-rom. After some tech consulting, I was told that I need a floppy because of the way "DOS" is set up. Ordered a NEC floppy from NewEgg last week. Tried to install, not only does my bios not self populate my floppy, my light on my floppy drive does not come on. Im in dire need of assistance, this has been going on for the last month and a half can someone tell my why I need a floppy to load my operating system and why my bios won't recognize my floppy along with why my power light on the floppy won't come on if everything else powers up. Please help me...........

If the HDD that you have is a sata drive, then yes you need to load the sata drivers which you should be able to extract from the mobo cd to a floppy.

If your Western Digital is a standard IDE drive, it cannot be jumpered to Master or Slave if it's the only drive on the cable - it must be Cable Select or the jumper must be removed.
