Hi all,
OK, Tuesday I had cable at my house for 2 hours replacing wires, connectors and splitters. Things worked fine. Then I connected things to my router and things got a little weird. Firstly, along with the 'Local Area Connection' icon, I got an 'Internet Gateway' icon. Web pages also started loading slower...not overall slower, kinda stopping and starting, like it keeps "hicupping". I looked up information on the internet gateway on microsoft's website. It doesn't seem necessary and since I hadn't seen it before, I uninstalled it. When I rebooted, the internet connected fine, except I still had the "hicupping". When I disconnected things from the router, and tried the internet, no "hicupping". Sounds like a router issue. I have a Netgear m814 with updated firmware. I have used this exact model router at two work sites and for three friends with no problems. Any thoughts on what is happening and the fix.
Also, what exactly is the internet gateway used for?
