I have just ordered the components to build a new PC. On this one I want to run Linux (Mandrake 10.1). Could anybody give me some guidance on installing this OS. I won't dual boot with Windows. Thanks in advance.

It should be as easy as putting the cd in and booting Mandrake will set up your partitions for you if you want it to or you can do a custom install and make the partitions what size you need. If you are installing on a new hard drive you have the advantage that there is no chance of loosing valuable data.

Check your hardware for available drivers...ofter new hardware is not yet supported.

Thanks guys, when you say "check the hardware for available drivers" , are you talking about the motherboard? or something else, thanks.

All hardware drivers... most often you will find some that "will work" and new ones are being developed all the time...as long as you keep with very mainstream equipment then you wont have to wait long for something really decent.
