im getting ready to network all the computers in the house, was going to go with all linksys products, and was going to wire it like this...cable to router, 3 computers too router and a pinter to a print server to the router...the router has only 4 ports, and soon there will be 2 more computers in the house....would it affect the proformance of the network if i wired it this way...cable to router, router to 8 port hub, computers to the hub and a printer to a print server to the hub?
also the router has two VPNs, would i still be able to use them sinces all the computers will be hooked up to the hub and not the router its slef? if i wired it this way i would also need to hook the router to the hub using a cross over cable correct?

My system is similar and I did it this way. Modem to 4 port router (wired router), 1 port to main computer, 1 port to 4 port switch(not a hub) in the basement, 2 router ports to my computer repair room where one of those lines is connected to another 4 port switch and the other is connected to the comp I'm on right now. The switch is used for connecting multiple customer machines to the internet during repairs. Three of my machines have printers connected to them (no print server) and all the printers are shared on the network. We mostly use the laser printer but any machine can access any printer. No crossover cables needed. Just use all straight ethernet cables.
