I just downloaded microsoft anti-spyware on my windowsxp from microsoft website, but when ever I click on it to install it, I get the following error messege :

error reading setup initialization file

Can anyone please let me know why am I getting this error messege?

Also I want to ask a question that do we have to install microsoft anti-spyware after installing sp2 on winxp?



Iam quoting the configuration of my computer for your convinence:

Branded System
Operating System : windowsxp 2002 pro edition
RAM: 128 MB
Processor : intel P3 ,730 MHZ

Iam sorry I donot have knowledge about the Hard Disk of this computer.

It sounds like the download got corrupted. Try re-downloading it.

I have re-downloaded the software but still Iam having the same problem but when I downloaded and installed this software on my home winxp ,I didnot had any problem.

Their must be something wrong with my office windowsxp ,their might be some missing file that must be causing trouble during installation.

what do you think?

It's possible that you have virus or spyware already on your system try to run this on-line removal tool:http://www.microsoft.com/security/malwareremove/default.mspx and then go off-line and run yours antivirus(update while online) then if anything found try installing it again, if not successful boot in safe mode and then install Microsoft antispyware and run it while in safe mode.!!!

Off the subject, but you're only running 128MB of RAM with WinXP Pro? That system must be going to the swap file constantly. You really should install more RAM to get better performance from that computer.

The problem is that I am using Mcafee but it is not updated.
all spyware needs to be disabled while you download other spyware.
