Tried using the defrag in System Mechanic 4 it ran somewhere about 12 hours and crashed. Says drive is about 15% fragmented is there any way I can defragment this thing and any idea why it's being so difficult? I do turn off my virus software any othe suggestions appreciated.

Why not just use the built in defragger?

The built-in defragger takes a long time to run too. You can download another defragger program for free (free trial) and it will run a lot faster than the one that came with Windows. You can even schedule it to run at startup.

You can schedule defrags with the built in defragmentation utility also. Is your entire hdd 1 partition?
