hi guy,
i have a file in windows\systems32 directory that Norton Antivirus is picking up as infected but keeps saying that it cant 'repair' or 'quarantine' 'access is denied'.
i assumed it was running in backbround so i went in proccesors and 'end-tasked' the infected virus file.
even then it keeps coming up wit the same msg.
i have tried deleting it but cant.
i have tried it under safemode but cant delete it that way either as i get 'can't delete file' msg.

any ideas how to delete the file.?

thanks
edd.

Might search here for the Virus Name and look for removal instructions:

http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/vinfodb.html

This usually does the trick too:

Try this:
Go into Run in your Start Menu, then type is 'cmd'.
Then you need to 'cd ^^^' where ^^^= the containing folder
Then you'll want to type 'del __' where __ = the file name, say for instance virusFile.exe
This will just delete the file, nothing else though

Turn off system restore(right-click my computer>propreties>system restore>check"turn off system restore") then reboot in safemode(hold f8 on boot) and run a virus scan there.
