I had my computer on and just sitting here for about an hour. Then I noticed that AVG was flashing a message that it detected a worm / virus. I also noticed that it was in a system restore file / area. I then did a full scan, and nothing showed up. I then turned off system restore, to get rid of the virus, and then turned it back on. Then I did another scan with AVG, one at Panda, and one at Housecall. Nothing showed up. So my question is--why did AVG detect a virus in the restore area when the computer was just at idle, and not when I did a full manual scan ? I am running XP Pro with all the updates including SP2, and update AVG every other day.

Because the last restore point may have had an infected file that has since been cleaned up perhaps

Hi Jagg, thanks for the reply, but I did a scan BEFORE I deleted the system restore, and nothing showed up.
