Im trying to capture video from a MiniDV camcorder over a firewire cable. I recently bought a generic brand firewire pci card to do so. The camera is not mine, but i have used it many times and it has worked fine on other computers.
In MS Movie Maker and Adobe Premiere Pro it detects the camera fine and begins capture. After 10 seconds or more it cuts out and says that the device was disconnected. Simply resetting the camcorder makes it connected again, so it's not like the cable has dislodged itself. It also says it has been d/c after a scene change.
What are your thoughts? Could this be the camcorder, the cable or the PCI card?
Regards,
