Well, what's the performance difference between a built-in sound card or just a PCI sound card? Especially when comparing a built-in VIA 6.1 sound system with a Creative Vibra 128 PCI? Is using built-in audio devices draining CPU power? Please advise. :)

Yes, but cheaper sound cards have the same issue - and a Vibra is a cheap sound card.
