Hey guys I'm running an overclocked mobile barton 2500 at 2424mhz
My vcore is at 1.95V and I was wondering if that is too much?
Barton 2500@2.42
Geil Value Ram pc3200@406Mhz@2.55V@2.5-3-3-6
Asus 7V880 KT880 motherboard
CPU----idle 48C, 100% load 56-60C (max for bartons is 85C so I think I'm safe)
I cant go any higher without 3d mark locking up while upping the FSB, currently it is at 406. Tried higher voltage for ram but no success. If you guys have any ideas on how to get more juice out of this sucker please let me know................

Vcore seems a bit high to me. I run a 2500m on an Abit NF7-S. Best stable oc I've had is 240 x 11 (2646) @ 2.0vcore. Memory was at 3-4-4-12 @ 2.9vdimm. I run it all the time at 213 x 12 (2556) with only 1.825 vcore and temps stay in the mid 40's. 3DMark puts most stress on the vid card. What happens when you run Prime95 and select the test for loading the cpu without much memory testing? Also, have you tested your memory for stability with Memtest86+? One more thought. Does your mobo allow locking of the PCI/AGP frequency to 33/66? If not, your 3DMark may be failing due to a vid card instabiltiy. No offense but you're using a Via chipset board and they aren't very stable for oc'ing. Best mobo's for oc'ing a Socket A are the DFI Lan party and the Abit that I mentioned, followed by the Asus A7N8X series.

Yes I am running a via KT880 and it allows for locking the AGP frequency so that would not be the problem. I have the Vcore set at 1.85V but Hmonitor shows it at 1.92V-1.95V. I will run that memtest86+ you suggested. Do you think I should set my memory to 3.0 8 4 4 if I want to push it to 430?

Memory adjustments are pretty much trial and error. Use Memtest to determine if the memory is causing errors and if you get some first try cranking up the vdimm to 2.8 or 2.9v. If the voltage increase doesn't clear the memory errors when you run a retest, try loosening the Cas by one notch and try again. If you aren't getting any errors when you run Memtest there's no reason to change the settings.
what kind of cooling are you running on that processor? 56 to 60C is a little bit too high for comfort on a desktop Barton CPU. im not sure if your motherboard has an overvoltage jumper, but some of the earlier VIA based Asus boards did, so you might want to check if its in the correct position. do you have any other means besides software to check the CPU temp, sometimes software can be notoriously inaccurate when it comes to temp and voltage readings.

Hey guys just an update...I am still running it at 1.95V but I installed an extra fan over the 80mm on the heatsink....no noise gain quiet as ever and temps now at idle are 37-45 depends on room temp...is that good with the 1.95V or should I throttle back and reduce voltage?????
Haven't used burn in yet but I bet its gonna be at high 50's

With that drop in temps, I'd try backing off on the vcore to about 1.85 and run Prime95 to test for stability. Just remember when oc'ing to make one change at a time and then test. Multiple changes invalidates any test results. Plus, I like to write down the changes and the results. This allows me to easily return to an earlier point without having to trust my memory.
