Just earlier today, i was trying to play my game w/ the play CD, like most games. for some reason it wouldnt find the CD. So I checked my computer, my CD-ROM drive icons are missing! I check device manager. as feared theres exclamation marks beside my CD drive listings with the following status:

Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.

So how do I fix these drivers, considering that these are built in windows drivers.

Help is greatly appreciated.

TIA,
CN :)

Did you have Easy CD Creator installed on that computer? See if this helps (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;314060).

Cricket, i tried what you suggested but no go. That situation doesnt seem to apply too much to my situation. I do have Easy Media Creator 7, but i didnt uninstall it, or even touch it these past few days.

Remove the drives from Device Manager and reboot. Windows will find them again and reinstall the drivers. See if that works.

Funny, how I often forget about such a simple yet effective method, i gotta start keeping a checklist with me :D. Anyway, that seemed to have fixed the problem. i didnt even have to do a reboot, just deleted their icons, rescanned the device manager and it reinstalled. But, now I gotta tread carefully, since this is one of few weird glitches with my system.
