I have one of these these. (http://www.seagate.com/support/disc/specs/ata/st340016a.html) (Make sure you read everything first) And I just want to know will it be compatible with this. (http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?product_code=293303&pfp=cat3) in the same computer. I just want to make sure so I won't have to go through the trouble of returning products, again. So... Will it?

No problem. The new one is an 8mb cache unit so it will deliver faster seek times. You may want to put your OS on there. Just set the jumpers on both drives to Cable Select (CS) with the 80 wire cable that will come with the new drive and you're good to go.

Forgot to add this, Will the western digital hd use the same cable as my seagate barracuda hd?

Yup, put the one you plan to have the OS installed on at the end of the cable and the other one in the middle.

Ok, I just got this hard drive and got everything set up. I see that 68 MB of it is being used. When I open the hard drive it shows up with no files. What is taking up those 68 MB?

Not sure what you mean. What operating system are you using? By "setup" do you mean installed the OS? How are you determining that "68 MB is being used"?

I'm on Windows XP. The setup I am referring to is the HD installed with all the cables and jumpers set. I went the Properties on the HD.

Is the new hard drive installed as the Master with XP on it or is it the slave and you have installed nothing on it yet?

System volume information and recycle bin. You don't see them because they are hidden.
