I have been mostly lurking lately but have seen in all these threads a large amount of malware infections of late.
It may be time to once more reinforce the basics...
These infections are the result of surfing the net with inadequate protection (which is readily available, mostly through free downloads) or as a result of careless browsing habits.
Using the following programs (and keeping them updated regularly) will protect the average user from most all virus, trojan, spyware and adware attacks.
AVG anti-virus (free download, plus multiple pay options, available at www.grisoft.com).
AdAware SE (same info applies, www.lavalsoftusa.com).
Spybot Search and Destroy.
Spywareblaster (javacool software).
Microsoft antispyware.
Keep windows machines updated (turn on automatic updates or visit MS windowsupdate frequently)
Use existing XP firewalls and all other available security measures available in Windows operating systems.
DON'T click on popups, free offers or sponsored links in ANY browser.
Visit Blackviper website to learn how to turn off un-necessary services in windows operating systerms.
Regularly clear all history, temporary internet files and cookies from your browsers.
If all of these directives are followed, you will have little need to come here asking for help with security issues.
For those who have not already used these measures, try them and then read the stickys at the beginning of this thread.
