Well I've been giddy for a couple of weeks now waiting for the items below to show up. Now they are here, and I can be even more giddy!!! Just thought I would share my "extatic-ness" with others (because my wife just doesn't get it.

... and for those of you wondering, NO! I will not be one of the people waiting in line dressed up as Darth Vader or a Wookie. :p

WOW! I'm looking forward to your comments about the film (without giving out spoilers of course).

On a slightly different topic, have I ever told you guys that I have a terminal illness? Yeah, I don't have much left to live *tear*. My greatest dream is to see an advanced screening of a popular movie (preferably a scifi prequel type of film) in a cinema up north (kinda like North York, ON). If there's only a kind-hearted saint who would give his ticket to an absolute stranger, and maybe airfare to go to the screening *cough*1st*cough*class*cough* lol :D

Have fun!

Stryker,
I see you have 2. I accept gifts. :D

no, I won't be in the lines, I probably won't be there for a couple days.

You guys are gonna have to battle it out with 10 other people I know. I could probably get my friends to do just about anything right now... actually, my cars could use a wash... and come to think about it, it has been a while since anyone took ME to dinner. ;)

... oh and james, good luck with the whole thing there. I would send you one, but "Not-a-chance" courier is on strike and "Improbable-Airways" has just gone bankrupt. If you manage to get your hands one a ticket, come on up and see me. I'll save you a seat!!

you are missing the big picture, think Lawn Care for a year.

What you have, is considered by many as an Item of great value, worth more then gold to some. Ask for a something big.

Those tickets are being sold for $500-$2000 a piece in Seattle, just thought I would let you know that Stryker. I myself would go. I'm not rich but then again, I don't care. There are a lot of people who can't turn down money like that though.

Seattle tickets:

Wish I had one so bad it hurts....lol

Oh well, May 19th is coming.

id rather sell em for 1500 and see the movie later the day it comeso ut.

Stryker

If I won them or something I may consider selling them, but they were a birthday present and someone went through a lot of trouble to get them for me so I figure I shouldn't pawn them off. ;)

I'll get a little review going once I've seen it (don't worry, NO SPOILERS). I've already told the guys at work that even if they ask me I'm not telling them any details about it.

and by the way rightcoast... those ticket packages they are selling on that sight for $500 - $2000 are for a screening 9 DAYS AFTER I'm seeing it. Just thought I would rub that in a little! :D :D

Fair call... if I won them they'd be straight on EBay
Besides, I'll defend the galaxy from in front of my computer with a cold beer and a social life :P

LOL...I was thinking the same! Put them on EBAY. I bet you would get enough money to go and buy yourself a darn nice computer ....and most computers last longer than a movie....most of them.

Yes, but some see it as so much more :p

Personally, I'm gunna wait a few weeks before seeing it--that's after all the truly hardcore fans have seen it 300 times in a row.

Yes, but some see it as so much more :pActually, I watching movies as much as the next guy, but waiting in line for more than a month before the movie even shows is ridiculous.

On the good news front I read Smith's review and my friend is the editor of F&SF magazine. Seems this one will live up to hype.

Styker, I noticed that. I am not fan enough to wait in line for a month, though I did for 8 hours for Ep.1 (small town I went to for that very reason). I didn't have kids then. Needless to say, I am truly envious. /insert golem saying precious emotiocon here/

That's the really nice part about the exhibitor screening (which this is). It's only a select few and they don't "sell" tickets to it. You are registered and you just show up. There is no need to wait in line because nobody needs to buy tickets and there is nothing "first come first serve" about it. The openings you need to avoid are the ones a few days before the movie actually opens to the public. That's where the cooks hang out!! :D

... and you guys are right of course. It is just a movie, however, I'm more excited about being one of the first 200 people in North America to see it.

Haha, try living on a college campus, they hand out screening tickets all the time. Sometimes groups get them to persuade people to come to meetings, sometimes there are people in the public areas just handing tickets out. One of my friends got tix to an H2G2 screening, I've received tickets to Millions and After the Sunset. It's often not worth it tho, because they waaaaaaaaaaaaay overbook screenings so there are no empty seats for sure, so you have to arrive hours in advance.

The viewing I'm going to is an "Exhibitor's Screening" and therefore is not the same thing as a pre-screening (which is much more public). The woman who got these for me is an executive at a rather large company that I won't mention (no, not a theatre company) and she is involved in all kinds of stuff like this. Exhibitor screenings, the Oscars, Movies sets, all kinds of stuff (by the way, she says Jessica Simpson is one of the nicest and most intelligent people she has ever met, and that Tom Cruise is shorter than you might think! :D).

These tickets are not commonly available and the two that I have are watermarked and registered very specifically to avoid transfer or re-sale. Most of the poeple at this screening will be the folks who will be responsible for the other screenings several days later. I've also been given VERY strict rules to attend this thing, and I'm not just talking about bringing a video camera with me.

If this was just a regular screening, I wouldn't be all that excited, but apparently this is going to be a pretty important event and I get to participate. It's pretty cool to see such a highly anticipated movie several days before anyone in the world gets to see it. I just hope a bunch of people don't get together and torture me for information!!

...oh and rightcoast, why did you have to give that away about Anakin? Now you have ruined the whole experience! :p

I just want to know if this movie is really good, like the old Star Wars movies, pretty good like the Phantom Menace, or really sucky like that horrid Episode 3:Clone Wars that they call a "Star Wars" movie...

Anakin is in this movie?? Well, thanks a heap, not gonna bother watching it anymore, now that you've spoilt the whole movie. Anakin appears in the movie and isn't nice, why not just finish off all the juicy details. Next you'll spoil all the further surprises and tell me other people appear in it, like Yoda and Obi or something. :D

What sort of company gets tickets for those...?
The sort that doesn't really want me talking about it too much. ;)
The more I talk about the specifics, the more trouble it could cause for the company with people asking for "little favors" here and there (not you specifically, but A LOT of people read these forums and some may not have the best judgement!). Sorry, but part of the deal was that I wouldn't give out too many details, and I plan to make good on my word. Otherwise, who will I get all my amazing tickets and movie posters from?! :D

Stryker

SO HOW WAS IT? AMAZING!
Again, no spoilers but I will say that this movie is amazing. It's back to more the classic star wars "feel" with a few corny lovey scenes, but all in all it was excellent.

The action and battle scenes are incredible and there is lots of light-sabre work, which was very cool.

... and by the way... DON'T MESS WITH YODA!!!!!!!!!!!!

In your opinion, is it as good as the old movies, specifically The Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi(My personal favorites.)? I wasn't really excited about Episode 3, *Shivers*ever since I watched that terrible movie they call "Star Wars Episode 2", it left me with a very bad impression of how the next installment in the saga would be.

Of course, movie reviews are all just personal opinion and others may find they have a different opnion than I do, but III was leaps and bounds ahead of II in all aspects. It has more of a "classic Star Wars" feel to it and I enjoyed it MUCH more than II, or I for that matter.

Although, I wouldn't go so far as to say it's better than Empire or Return, (that's just crazy talk! ;)) but I think you'll be happy with it. Lots of great action scenes (battles in space, lightsabre fighting, the force stuff, etc...) and they told the story really well to close off III and move into IV pretty smoothly.

It may seem that way, but believe you me... she is a whole lot "sharper" than you may think. Her dimness is an act for her TV shows. One of the most articulate and intelligent people in Hollywood.

And sorry Punked, don't think I can help you with Jessica. I'll say hi to Kirsten Dunst on the set of Spiderman 3 for you though. ;)

As for Star Wars 7, 8 and 9, the storyline for those 3 are nowhere near as exciting and interesting as the first 6. Lucas has said it's going to stop here, and the last 3 won't be "movie-ized".

Because the "bad" guys actually struck back? Like finally! I mean, it would have been such a cooler series if Darth Vader had been Luke Skywalker and vica versa, but no, a wimpy little fellow has to whup someone who so outweights him in supreme coolness...

I am kinda tired...
