Well HAL9000 started a string about the prices at the pump so I thought I'd hit another touchy subject for Americans...electrical prices. We just received our electrical bill yesterday and our standard fee almost quadrupled. In fact our standard fee is now more than the cost of our electricity per month...OUCH! How about the rest of you guys...see any noticable differences?

Nope, in Texas we got plenty. Took care of any shortages long ago by a little thing called "planning". We allow no wackos in here, so we build, build and build.

Don't get too smug sarge. As I remember CA used to be a pretty conservative state until their population boomed. Then all the looney collectavists moved in.

Isn't TX in the middle of a population boom?

Yep, we're in the middle of a population boom - mostly illegal aliens. Never seen so many people who can't speak English. But, that's another story altogether.

Actually isn't it spelled WACO and isn't it in Texas?:D Hehehehe! Our rising prices are due to states such as California wanting to buy out our energy with their deep pockets. So in order to stay "competative" our local coops are raising their prices. One of our major employers where I live just closed it's door to it's 800 employees because they found out they could sell off their leased electricity to California and make more money. Sad situation.

Oh, and by the way Sarge I know how you feel, in Montana we've seen a tremendous population boom of immigrants who can't speak english. Mostly from countries such as California and Texas.:D Sorry couldn't resist that...by the way I spent four years living in Texas and enjoyed most of it.

My provider is the wonderfully bankrupt PG&E. My bill has been all over the lot. They keep warning that the really big increase will come in the June bill. supposed to go up as much as 50-60%. Just kinda waiting and seeing. Kinda bad situation here. My guess is it will get worse before it gets better. Kind of afraid to open the PG&E bill.

BTW they provide both gas and electricity.

:D

My electric bill for April was 52.00 and May went down to 46.50. And that is with air/con working overtime in our mini-heatwave. Its been 97-99 for a couple weeks.
