tiger direct is a really weak and bad company.. all their products cost more.. plus they have MIRs and after the MIRs they STILL cost more. Half the time you dont even get the MIR either.

Well this is a turn of the table. From what I've read on other forums it's usually Apple suing someone else for ysing the word Apple in a product. It's no wonder it take so long for criminals to see a court room. All the courts time is wasted on these idiotic disputes because a company thinks it might lose a few bucks.

It's a stupid claim. May have some legal merit, but the fact that they waited until 2 days or so before the release date was just plain slime-ballish. If they had a problem with it they should have said something months ago, if not more.

I hope they lose, and miserably. Simply because they've known for a very long time it was going to be called Tiger, and they did nothing then. This is basically an advertising lawsuit by Tiger Direct to try gain more attention for their site. A name such as tiger is in the dictionary, and as such it's tough luck for Tiger Direct.

The thing to keep in mind is the cost from all these lawsuits will be passed on to the consumer.

Tiger Woods and the Detroit Tigers are next to be sued. They also get some hits on search engines. Oh yeah, I forgot about Tony the Tiger.

Lawsuits are getting ridiculous. TigerDirect should be glad to be associated with Apple. It might raise their standards a bit.

This is just a stunt to pull the pagerank up when "Tiger" is searched for in Google. I don't get the complaining about search rank results though. They were already ahead of Apple when Tiger is searched for.

I like it when Apple gets sued...even for irrational reasons. Apple needs a taste of their own medicine periodicly.

Instead of suing Apple, Tiger Direct should try to become better selling computers online and becoming better in the Customer Service department. However, Apple is getting what they deserve...there's a saying I always say..."What goes around, come back around".

Myself I have already banned my self from doing business with TigerDirect.

As far as Apple goes in this case, Recently most of their OS names have been based on the Wild Cat family. I found that kind of creative.


Mairving--I am not sure, I can't search from work, but I believe Kelloggs has an older claim with Tony the Tiger, perhaps they can sue Tigerdirect.

The timing was right. They know that thousands of Mac fans waited for that released date and Tiger Direct sued Apple. They should have sued months before. Tiger was already named to the next version of OS X months ago.

You know, i have to admit, im getting sick of companies suing other companies because of one simple common word. The way things are going, I see a world which freedom of speech is literally compromised, and companies literally copyright general words (oh, we can no longer say "apple", as in the fruit because its a copyright violation with apple computers :p ). Personally, I think this is getting out of control.

I saw this a few days ago and found this lawsuit to be the most rediculous thing I've ever seen. If it was named several months ago, TigerDirect knew. I strongly believe that Apple should counter-lawsuit for wasting their time.

The old saying about no such thing as bad publicity probably applies here. Even with the outlay of legal costs, Tiger Direct probably comes out ahead. They are a decent size company, but having thier name bandied about with the likes of Apple won't do anything but help them financially I would imagine.
