This is my first build and I am using an EPOX EP-8KMM3I-X KM400RT with a
Sempron 2400, WD SATA 80G HD. My problem is that I have followed the manual and set-up the BIOS as requested, since the HD is not in a RAID configuration it is set to IDE. I am installing a new copy of Windows XP and pressing F6 when requested and installing floppies made from the Motherboard suppliers CD. I have changed out the cable to the SATA HD. I do know that it is running. But windows does not recognize my HD! I downloaded DATA Lifeguard for DOS (floppy) and it did not recognize the HD either. Do you think there could be a problem with the BIOS settings, or maybe a bad SATA driver in the MOBO? I have worked on this for a while now and am getting frustrated.

If the WD diagnostic can't see the drive the drive may be defective.

But try setting the hard drive to SCSI instead of IDE in the BIOS.

I just have IDE and RAID as options. I don't see SCSI? What am I missing?

Are you installing the hard drive on the RAID controller?

If you are, than try setting it to RAID in your BIOS.

I am running an MSI k7N2 Delta ILSR with a single 80gig drive running on the third IDE channel, on the RAID controller, and the RAID controller sets it up as Raid 0+1 using a single drive.
