Vivendi lost it's court fight with Valve and now things get really interesting.

Well, on the plus side, I support the idea of getting rid of game developers. The vast majority of them have brought nothing but grief to gamers. With their schedules aimed at making money, good games have been mutilated, deteriorated, turned into flops, or even cancelled. Problem is that developers may be doing precisely that in the near future. The same serpent biting its own tail.

Well, it sure would give a lot of developers a chance at making a game, since they wouldn't need to pay for the publishers. Which I think that part about it is a good idea, since I see a lot of really good games that just barely were able to get a publisher to support their game/s, which turned out to be excellent.

I'm not the only one who thought a nightmare was being repeated with game publishers.
I doubt Valve intended to lead us all to freedom but it could happen (and to my surprise and great relief).

At the end of the day, this could also lead to a market flooded with rubbish games as well.... I realise that publishers aren't perfect, but who is?? They bring a wealth of expertise to the field, all that will happen is they will end up working for the company that developes the games

I think the publishers working for the developers is the way to go.
