Laptop as a Present

I'm 16 years old and my sister is graduating from high school this month, and my mom wanted to get her a laptop for college as her graduation present. This will need to be relatively fast, but nothing special. She will probably do simple things on it just like AIM, word processing, etc. What do you recomend that's cheap and reliable?

Dell. Wait until they have one of their special deals and you can get a decent laptop pretty cheap. Watch www.slickdeals.net for them.

Look at what Dell is offering.... you could possibly buy one second hand, but I wouldn't recommend it.

I have owned a total of three Dell laptops over the years. All were good machines...Take the above advice.
