i have a dvd video using DVD + R Disc. i wonder would i be able to burn the DVD using DVD - R disc so my DVD Player can read the DVD..
also, in general most DVD player using DVD +R Disc or DVD - R Disc

if your burner supports booktype change, then you should be able to do that. But even better is the change to DVD-ROM. You have to change the booktype before burning, though, you can't change it afterwards.

Both. The compatibility of both is similar. The highest compatibility has the DVD+R with DVD-ROM booktype. I use it, and it never failed for me.

What is the brand and model of your burner ?
If you burn with Nero or DVD Decrypter, they can change the booktype.
There is a program called DVD bitsetter, but AFAIK it only works with Ricoh based burners. And LG (or LiteOn, not sure) has its own program IIRC.

i have a liteon sohw 1033s dvd burner i have nero 6.0 and DVD decrpter. can you show me how to do it

Lite On has a Book Setting utility called "Bit Setting Utility" and the latest version is 1.3.5 i think. You can get it here:

All commercial DVD's are set to DVD-Rom booktype and that's what I always do too.
