In my home town we have a "town website" with the various officials and their phone #'s, as well as the offices (like tax collector or town clerk). I would like to put a bulletin board (for discussing opinions or posting town oriented activities) on the page but have been unable to find a free service. Does anyone know of a service like this, or is there a software program that anyone is aware of that will do this for us??

Hi Dan,

phpBB ( http://www.phpbb.com/ )
It's good and free BB software, but the server needs to be able to run php.

ezboard ( http://www.ezboard.com/ )
Free BB service, you don't need to install anything. Comes with ad banners though.

Hope that helps.

Personal opinion is that they all pale in comparison to V-bulletin. V-bulletin has a lite version that is free that comes with a lot of the features missing. V-B costs $85 for a yearly license or $160 for an owned license.

Well, I like IkonBoard. http://www.ikonboard.com/
You need to be able to run cgi and perl 5.

Hmm if u use the NIX (Linux esp) there are more forums than you can shake your stick at, most of them free & OpenSource.
I've been using phorum for a while now.
