The scene: two computers, Win XP, crossover cable, dialup

Action: Ran XP network wizard

Result: Both computers say the network is connected at 100Mbps, but I can't see the other computer from Network neighborhood and I cannot connect to the internet from the host. No peripherals available either.

Question: What am I missing?

When I boot either computer, it does not prompt me for a password, etc. Its sorta connected, but not really. The network sends a marginal amount of bytes and receives none. This applies to both computers.

Thanks,
tranman

XP SP2? Try disabling software firewalls such as Norton and the XP firewall.

Also make sure you have a shared resource.

You need to share a folder to the network on each computer.
