I feel like an idiot asking this but I'll go ahead. I have a Dell Latitude D600 with a Mobility Radeon 9000 video chip running Windows XP. My monitor screen size is 15 inches with optimal resolution set at 1400x1050. Since the screen is so small, I want to hook it up to my 34" TV.

The back of my laptop does have a port with a TV icon with an arrow, so I'm not sure if that's for output to the television or input from the television. Can someone tell me if I can use that jack to send output to the televsion and if so, what cables or cords would I need? I placed the input specs to my TV at the bottom of the message. Thanks!

My TV is a Sony Trinitron with the following inputs:
• Video Outputs --- Component Video (Y/Pb/Pr) Input: 2 Rear

• Composite Input: 1 Front/3 Rear

• DVI-HDTV Interface: 1 Rear

• S Video (With Detection): 1 Front/2 Rear

• Control S: 1 Rear

• Audio Out: 1 Rear

• Monitor: 1 Rear

• Composite Input --- 1 Front/3 Rear

• A/V Inputs --- HDMI: 1 Rear

• S-Video Input --- (With Detection): 1 Front/2 Rear

• Control S --- 1 Rear

• Audio Output --- 1 Rear (Fixed/Variable)

• Monitor Output --- 1 Rear

• RF Input --- 1 Rear

In order to get an HD picture you would need to use either component, VGA, or DVI/HDMI. If your laptop has a VGA output and your TV has a VGA input you're set. However, if your TV does not have a VGA input you would need an adapter like THIS (http://www.national-tech.com/popupspecs/10h1-50103.htm).

Wow this adapter looks to be the one to go with. Does anyone know of a retail store that would have a VGA to RCA component cable? I would like to buy it from a physical store first that has a firm return policy in case this doesn't work.

I think you might find that at Radio Shack.
