When do you know its time to turn on the new build?

When do you know its time to turn on the new build? I completed the build (this is my first build) late this afternoon and have checked everything twice. Still I don’t have the courage to turn the thing on. :eek: What I think I will do is wait until tomorrow check things again and then blow up half of the continent. :D As anxious as I am I want to thank everyone who answered my questions. There are just some things you can’t get from a CD. Don’t get me wrong the PC Mechanic CD is excellent if it was not for the CD I could not have been able to complete this project. The CD helped me to ask intelligent questions.

I'm sure you won't blow up half a continent, and if you do then I hope you are on the eastern side :p As long as you didn't get any dud parts, I am sure your build will make the last step(aka: turning on) just fine.

With my build, I had the motherboard bent(to a degree that should have worried me) over my leg at one point(stubborn RAM wouldn't go in :rolleyes: ), was wearing sox on a carpet and a swinging chair(I kept gliding across the floor... Doesn't help with static I wouldn't think), no anti-static wrist band, and I kept placing parts on the antistatic bags(which I guess you arent supposed to do... at least I read that somewhere). It all turned on just fine and has been working lieka dream ever since.

quick check everything then turn it on if it doesn't work nothing bad will happen (probably :rolleyes: )

I remember turning on my first build and I sure was nervous, pushed button and nothing happen, gave a sigh and looked it over again. I looked down and saw I forgot to turn my power strip on. :p

Ever since then when I turn my builds on for the first time, I always tell myself if something is wrong I'll fix it, because I built the computer in the the first place. ;)

Go ahead after giving a quick NASA recheck turn it on.

I've bulit two PCs last December for my friend and his brother at the same time and it went fine. There were minor problems like the USB ports not working and no HDD LED, no sound. But just worked patiently on it and everything went fine. When you turn ON the PC for the first time you'll really pray and hope that it will be fine and everything you had done should be correct.

I did one last check and I turned the computer on about thrity mins ago. I DIDN'T TAKE OUT HALF THE PLANET! I was able to review the BIOS using the manual that came with the motherboard. I am having one small problem but thats in another thread. Thank you all for your support and your interesting stories

Congratulations! I know the feeling. I scared senseless when I built the rig in my sig. A lot of money is on the line when pushing that little button. Then you feel relief. Glad it all worked out.
