Well I have decided to build a new computer. I am am going with an amd64 (939) build as i believe this will provide the greates upgradability (dual cores are supposed to be compatible with this socket type). So far these are the parts i will be using:
MSI K8N Neo4-F Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Venice Integrated into Chip FSB Socket 939
CORSAIR ValueSelect 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Unbuffered Dual Channel Kit
ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon X600Pro 256MB DDR PCI-Express x16 Video Card

i will not be needing any psu as i already have an extra, i will be using a dvd/cd burner from my other computer as i also have an extra one, oh and a sata drive . i would like to know if everything i have listed is compatible with xp pro 64 and i would like to welcome any suggestions any one might have.

what kind of PSU do you already have? is it of good quality? it would be a shame to have such a nice system taken down by a PSU.

also, since your vid car is pci-x, you will need an atx 2.0 PSU (24-pin)

Socket 939 should provide upgrading options for the next year or two (maybe three) so you should be somewhat fine as for upgradability. I wouldn't recommend the use of any ULTRA PSU - they are known to fail quickly. Maximum PC did a review on them a few months ago and it fell far short on many tests.

Yes, those parts <i>should</i> be compatible with WinXP-64 Pro, but remember drivers - it's software you need to be more worried about. Drivers need to be specifically written for 64-bit operating code, which many companies are still getting at. I know ATI has 64-bit drivers (not sure about the AIW series) but you may want to check on the other components.
