After some research, I have decided on this system:

Mobo: DFI Lanparty UT nF4 UltraD Soc939
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813136152
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Venice Soc939
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103537
RAM: 2x Twinmos 512MB DDR400 PC3200 TMSP400
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820218405
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.8 SATẠ150 200GB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822148066
Op1: Samsung TS-H352A DVD Drive
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16827151213
Op2: Lite-On SOHW-1673s Dual Layer DVD Burner
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16827106964
Vid Card: XFX GeForce 6600GT PCI-E 128MB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814150078
Sound: Turtle Beach Riviera 6 PCI (Something cheap just so I don't eat up CPU using the onboard sound)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16829118103
PSU: Thermaltake TR2 W0070 430W
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817153023
Case: MGE CA-Titanium-S ATX Mid Tower
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811171054

Here are my questions:
1. Is it worth it to upgrade to the 3200+ Venice? I plan to OC a bit, and from what I've seen the 3000+ has the almost same OC potential as the 3200+? Can anyone confirm this?
2. Should I shell out more and get the 6800GT? I'm going to do some gaming (not a fanatic, but still...). Do I need the better vid card if I'm going to be getting a monitor like the Dell 2005FPW or the Hyundai L90D+?
3. Which monitor would you get? The Dell or the Hyundai? Both sell for about the same price on ebay. (Of course the Dell a little bit more, but it's not significant.)

Good motherbaord choice. I have never heard of TwinMOS brand memory, son't know too much about it. If you are looking for 1GB (2 x 512) memory go with this Corsair:

Cheaper too ($77)

With that cheap a sound card, I doubt it's hardware accelerated, and so you would get no performance benefit using it vs. the onboard sound. As for the monitor, the 2005FPW is really just a 17" 4:3 screen with more space tacked onto each side. If you can afford it, spring for the 2001FP.

The reason TwinMos is better is that it has the Winbond UTT chip (if you are lucky, though I think they stop shipping them now I think) or the new BH-5. $100 for a gig of BH-5 RAM is definitely a deal.

Regarding the 2001FP, I've looked at it and it actually performs at only 25ms as opposed to 12ms for the 2005FP. The size differences are minimal, with the 2001FP having just a tiny bit more screen size. But the contrast ratio is definitely superior in the 2005. So I guess the question whether the 2001FP is fast enough not to ghost ridiculously, because, at a higher price, I really hope it is more than just "a little bit bigger".

The 2001FP is actually 16ms S-IPS, so it exhibits very little ghosting. The 2005 is only 12ms gray-to-gray, but its black-to-white response time is 16ms, same as the 2001FP. And when you look at the resolutions for the two screens, you see that the 2005FPW is only 80px wider than the 2001, but the 2001 is a full 150px taller than the 2005. The result is that you get much more screen real estate on the 2001FP.

I have the 2001FP, and my work just got four 2005FPWs. Looking at both, I would much rather have the 2001FP. The main reason to get widescreen would be to run two windows side-by-side -- and you can't do that on the 2005 because it's not high-res enough. The only reason you should get the 2005 over the 2001 is if you watch a lot of movies, but then it would be better just to get a larger LCD TV.

The contrast ratio may seem like an issue now, but keep in mind that LCDs are already much higher-contrast than CRTs. If you are coming from a CRT, you will be impressed with the contrast either way.

HTH :)

Another question: Is the power supply decent enough if I want to OC a bit?

Yeah, it should be fine. If you were running a 6800GT or something like that, I would say to go for a 450 or 500W PSU with dual 12V rails, but 430W is fine for overclocking the hardware you're getting.
