Hey folks!
Been a while eh?
Thought I'd pop in for a looksie and see who (whom?) still haunts these hallowed halls. Sorry to have turned a blind eye to 'yall but life moves on.
I was surprized my old handle and password still worked......wow, had to have been....what....2 years?

Hi Toaster
Most of the East Coast is asleep - but my goodness, wait till they wake up! (I'm out here on the West Coast, so it's not that late - and maybe Cricket will see your post, since he's in Hawaii) ---
Are you still out on Guam?
. . . Last post I remember was a resurrected thread about putting the hard drive in upside down - and one about trying to revive one a little longer by putting it in the refrigerator - stuff that's changed a little.
Nice to see you round here again - I started dropping by just before you headed out to the Pacific.
. . . Gary

Hello yet again,
I've been pretty much all over the phrikken place but now in Aridphrikkenzona.
(ok, Arizona, PHX to be exact.) Did some work for specialized....um....agencies and set up a few computational beasts. For the time being, I'm hanging loose in AZ and just watching the landscape melt. Email in and out of the south pacific was difficult at best via sat-link so I lost contact with the outside world for a while but I was too buzy to do much anyhoo.
Now, I'm just chilling and doing some R&D work and staying close to FAB-21.
Hey Doc, you still around chasing 'lil hotties at the library or did'ja give up and buy a years supply of hand cream? *chuckle* (Justa joke Doc)
Hey there flopster and Hal, missed ya's, glad to see yer still kicking.
I missed the "normal insanity" of this place and the occaisional "chip wars".
Been doing some interesting things with the P4 and the Xeons as well as the 64/128 bit beasts from MIPs and UltraSparc's.
Anyhoo, I'll keep in better touch (or been touched) and re-frequent (aka:haunt) the Mech.
Glad to see everyone still stays clear of normal lives (abbynormal?) and doing well.

It would have been just over 3 years ago that he left... I think the last discussion that Toasty and I had was about the SiS645 chipset... he had a chance to pick into it slightly and was able to inform me that it was pretty much a clone of the Intel chipset with a few tweaks... must be true.. 3 years and not a glitch from this system.

where is guamGuam (http://www.answers.com/guam) is part of the Northern Mariana Islands (http://www.mapsouthpacific.com/micronesia/index.html). Toaster was working there (for the military or government?). I think he's a Electrical or Electronics Engineer. He used to be one of the moderators here.

Guam was interesting and rather tedius, a stopping off point to many places with none near by. (That's the best I can describe it.) None the less, it was entertaining and theoretical. Glad to see so many new faces and many of the old , this site seems to be doing well and that's good. It'll take a bit to reaquaint myself here so be patient huh?
Hal, it seems SIS stopped getting interesting after the 645DX chipset and slip back into the "bargain basement", shame, they had some ideas and tweaks Intel never gave much thought to. I too stil own one, rock stable.
I havent been arrested again (Imagine, the agency I worked for quoted my post nearly word for word and simply replied; "that's original") so no real fun yet.
Done some interesting poking around in the "Itanium" and I-II as well as a dozen P4 chipsets. (actually, I found "unused" registers for "PAT" in the BX and I810 chipsets and the nearly forgotten 860/E) More when I find my notebook........now where'd that go.....

I still remember when I proudly exclaimed that I had overclocked my Slot A 550mhz Athlon 100mhz to 650mhz by purchasing a "goldfinger" device to increase the multier to 6.5 (I must have been about 16 at the time). Toaster chuckled and mentioned that I should have just gone with Intel since all you had to do is up the FSB and they'll fly.. :D Well, several years later now you'll be happy to know that I run two Intel Pentium 4 systems that I'm very happy with. So in essence I took your advice Toaster -- it just took a while to sink in :D

So any lil tweaks that one should know about? .. mine was just the 645 w/400Mhz FSB.
