You little "View Page Source" cheater! ;)

That case obviously appeals to SOMEONE or they wouldn't be selling it anymore. There are folks with some pretty odd preferences out there.

Maximum PC reviewed it and said it was pretty bad and way overpriced. They also saids that the cooling wasn't terrific.

I would still rather buy a regular/mid-range case and spend the $$ I save on components that will actually improve performance. Just too rich for my blood... at least for a case anyway.

Expensive and horrendous looking I think. Could possibly turn it into a kool AvP themed case, but it would take alot of work. I dont like the case that look super plasticy and molded.

I don't mind it, and I could see why people might like it... personally, I'm not really into buying fancy looking cases though.
I think what Lamilia did was type the name of the case as the site, if you look at the link it opens it says http://asus vento 3600 green :)
Easy mistake to make if so

I'm perfectly happy with my $50 Enlight case (that I actually got for nothing) - I don't look at it, it's under the desk. As long as I can reach the CD and floppy drives, that's all that matters to me. It's a pleasure to work inside of because it's roomy and has a rail system and removable motherboard tray. All these fancy cases these days hurt my eyes.

I agree with that. All I want is a sturdy, roomy case that doesn't slice off my fingers when I'm in there. It's just a case! It's not an artistic method of self-expression.

ric449
06-08-2005, 12:38 PM
I suppose it depends on what you like. I want a case that looks good, and does a good job with airflow. Some people just want something that holds their components, but some people like something a little more extravagant.

It's just a case! It's not an artistic method of self-expression.But for some folks it is.

While some people are fine with a plain beige case with no frills, other people wouldn't be caught dead using a plain beige case. They want something with windows, LEDs, cold cathodes, UV, etc... To them, a fancy case is a work of art and a way of expressing who they are.

To each his own.

Of course, I see that there are others want to "express themselves" with a case. Me, I'm strictly utilitarian.

I love thermaltake tsunami. When my wife and I were in the process of moving like 6 months ago (she wasn't my wife then.. we were just engaged), I had a computer with a thermaltake tsunami case and we were in an apartment 2 storys up. Anyway i dropped it down the middle section of the stairs so it fell 2 storys down... i plugged everything in and it still works. Case has no dents or anything lol. Maybe i just got lucky or i bought a really good case.

I wouldn't say I want to express myself with a pretty case, I just like them over the plain cases. It just gives that extra wow factor when people walk in and say "Is that your case? Wow". I lived with a Packard Bell beige computer for 4 years, and right now I have a case from Jeantech which is black but still lacking in the looks department, but I just can't decide what to get, there are just too many designs!

*EDIT* I suppose you could compare cases with cars. Say you had a choice between a brand new sports car, or a car that looks like an old Volkswagen Polo but has all the performance of the sports car for a little less cash. Which would you choose?

I actually like station wagons the best.

I would choose the Polo, because if you have a flashy sports car you always attract attention from the cops. You have to be going some insane amount of speed to attract attention in a beater hatchback.

On the other hand, interms of cases, I like something classy. Nothing says you have a nice computer more than a sleek Cooler Master or Lian-Li case. Sure, they're expensive, but they make up for it in looks and construction.

On the third hand, if you're on a budget, I will always recommend a $60 Antec case first, because then you can put the other cash towards performance.

That wouldn't be an old Platinum by any chance would it? if so I have one sat here under my desk at the mo that I brought from the UK with me 4 years ago, apart from the DVD rom and the CPU/fan/heatsink there are none of the original parts left.

I used to have an old 1971 mark one Ford Capri with 1300GT go faster stripes all over it, the thing is it had a V6 3.5 race tuned Ford Cologne lump with a ZF 5 speed straight cut box and a Jag IRS/axle casing and Quaife limited slip diff.
Remember the RS 2000 escorts and all those other poxy boy racer cars? the only thing I can remember of them was their headlights in my rear view mirror. oops :o

The way I see it if you are going to pay 1000+ for a nice gaming computer (or any computer really) you don't want some ugly old case Its kind of weird if you think about it you spend 300 on a video card but you can't spend $100+ on a case? I guess if you really don't like to show off and don't even want to look like you are showing off your case you could get a cheap one (heck if you are going to do that just go to a recycling center and get one of those old towers).

I think that "chicks" who are attracted to that sort of thing (fancy sports cars) are probably the kind of women I wouldn't want to get to know anyway. They're either too materialistic or too dizzy...or both. And probably as intelligent and interesting as an eraser.

No kidding. I drive a 1998 Saturn because of its gas mileage and it was a good value. And that's when I'm not riding the bus, which I do most of the time because my wife and I only have the one car.

People who are attracked to flashy things are also going to be attracted to the next flashy thing that comes along. I'll leave the flashy moving shiny metal objects to the birds and stick with being practical. It keeps my insurance rates lower. :D

I spent a little over 1000 on this computer, and I don't have a fancy schmancy case. It's not the good ol' plain beige (it's black with a bit of silver). The case to me (like many others) is just the box to put all the goodies in. And I don't care that its not flashy, and I highly doubt other people who see my computer really care either. Heck, most of my friends aren't all that good with computers, so they're just impressed that I built it.

guess everyone is different. cricket and doctorgonzo I understand what you mean so hide the computer until the 3rd-5th date and if she runs away from it you know it wasn't meant to be, but that probably also means she needs therapy because no one runs because of a computer unless it has fire shooting from it and stuff.

Definitely not naked.

What about a 17"+ size monitor on the side of the case? That would be a good LAN machine because you wouldn't have to carry around a separate monitor. It's probably not too hard. I've had my monitor apart a couple of times, and if you found a way to mount it, it could easily be done.

I'm pretty sure Maximum PC had a Rig of the Month that had one of those, but I can't find it on the internets.
