Anybody know of any reliable HD partitioning software utilities that are free? Thanks.
Nothing that's user friendly. You might try one of them from the Ultimate Boot CD.

is there something wrong with win xp partitioning? thats what i always use and seems to work fine

XP can do the job just fine as long as you don't need to keep the data that's on the drive.
